Rip Currents

Rip currents are dangerous and take the lives of many people each year.

If you get caught in a rip current, experts say to not fight the current. Swim parallel to shore to escape the current then swim back to shore. If you get tired, float on your back.

Life jackets and/or flotation devices are highly encouraged for adults and children.

Marine life

The Gulf is home to many marine life animals. You may see fish, jellyfish, crabs, turtles, sharks, and dolphins. Please respect them.

If you're lucky, you may even see a manatee or whale! If you encounter a manatee, do not touch them. They are endangered and it is illegal.
